The Lovewell Pond Association (a.k.a. Property Owners of Lovewell Pond) will hold its annual meeting on Saturday, July 10th from 10:00 am until noon at the Fiber Barn at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds. (Follow the balloons to the Fiber Barn, which is located near the rear of the fairgrounds.) The Agenda will be sent out soon. Please bring your good ideas and Lake info to share - we look forward to seeing everyone!

Lakes Environmental Association releases Spring 2009 Milfoil Update

Saco River Recreational Council holds annual spring meeting
April 29, 2009The Saco River Recreational Council kicked off its 25th anniversary year with a meeting that was well-attended by many of the groups working to protect and preserve the Saco and its watershed. Representatives were on hand from river outfitters and livery services, land preservation groups, several branches of local and regional law enforcement, campgrounds and recreational areas, and our own association president Gene Bergoffen. Topics discussed included coordination of efforts among the organizations, sources of grant monies that can be used to support various programs benefitting the watershed, and further education and outreach efforts.
Results of new water quality study
February 17, 2009In January 2008, environmental consulting firm Normandeau Associates was hired by the Town of Fryeburg to study the effects of water withdrawals on phosphorous levels in the Lovewell Pond watershed. The results were released last month and are available here (PDF, 490 Kb).

Wayward dock washes up on Pine Island
November 15, 2008LPA stalwarts Colleen and Peter W. were on their last kayak ride of the season when they spotted a large aluminum dock washed up on the south side of Pine Island. See the full-sized photo in the gallery page.
